New Lens 85mm f/1.8

I got a new lens a couple of days ago, it a 85 f/1.8 Prime lens and here are the first pictures I took with it. This is hyped to be one of the best portrait lenses and so my expectations were high - I was not disappointed!

    Some great shots! I've been tossing up what new lens to buy lately - 17-55mm, 100mm Macro, 50mm F1.2 L

    But now seeing what the 85 can do, it's now in the mix too, so thanks for that! Haha.

    And thanks for your comment on my blog(I know I'm a little late in replying) I believe I've seen you on POTN too?

    I already have the little nifty fifty, it's not bad, but it's pretty hit and miss for the quality and lack of USM. Can't complain for $90 I guess!

    I'll definitely be reading up on the 85 though, you have some great shots!

    It is a fast little lens and I am still getting used to that close of a focal length but I will get more use out of it once the weather gets better and I get it outside! Do you have a favorite?

    The first picture where (I'm assuming your daughter or younger sister?) is looking out in wonderment is absolutely gorgeous.

    The plain background in that one, with straight, creamy bokeh really sets it off. I like the others too, but their backgrounds have distracting bits and pieces in them, where is this is straight forward and uncluttered so your eye doesn't drift, making it simply gorgeous.

    The catchlights and skin tones are lovely too. Great image! :)
